The SMALS Leadership would like to thank all of the healthcare providers involved in the recent vaccination drive. Many different groups came together to make this possible, including the St. Mary's Health Department, the Department of Emergency Services, the Rescue Squad Association, and SMALS.
The drive-through mass vaccination was well planned and well-executed. On a quick turnaround, we were able to provide the newly FDA authorized Moderna vaccine to our community's first responders. Over 900 people received the first dose in this three-day event. We look forward to supporting the second dose of the vaccine for these responders, which will take place in about a month. This is a stepping stone towards the end of the current crisis. We look forward to supporting the roll-out of the vaccine to the 1B, 2, and 3 priority groups under the Maryland COVID vaccination plan.
We look forward to a time where all the citizens of St. Mary's County have been successfully immunized. Until then, please make our job easier by following the CDC guidelines on social distancing and hygiene. These guidelines can be found at this link. If you have any questions, please contact chief@smcals.org or follow up with our colleagues at the St Mary's County Health Department. The end is in sight, but we need you to help make it happen. Stay safe! |
