#NolanStrong Fight like a Kid 5k Walk and Fun Run

Come out and support Nolan Scully as he battles Rhabdomyosarcoma Cancer.

Nolan is a tough little boy who needs our support. He has a tough road ahead of him, but we all know how tough he is. In order to support his family financially while Nolan is receiving treatment, members of LVFD are organizing a 5K Fun Run and Walk on December 19, 2015 at 9:00am.

All proceeds will go to Nolan and his family. There will be #NolanStrong t-shirts on sale with refreshments after the run. Please keep Nolan and his family in your thoughts and prayers, please come out and support them.

Enterovirus D68 On The Move

Enterovirus D68 (EV-D68) is one of many non-polio enteroviruses. EV-D68 was first identified in California in 1962. Compared with other enteroviruses, EV-D68 has been rarely reported in the United States for the last 40 years.

Symptoms EV-D68 has been reported to cause mild to severe respiratory illness. However, the full spectrum of EV-D68 illness is not well-defined. Most of the recently reported cases have occurred in children.

STROKE What You Need To Know

The EMS Lecture Series will continue on Wednesday, May 28th, 2014 with Dr. Michael Perraut lecturing on Stroke - What You Need To Know from 7p-9p in the Atrium at MedStar St. Mary's Hospital. BLS and ALS continuing education hours will be given. This lecture will cover the difference between hemorrhagic and ischemic strokes, some of the newer therapies; using tPA; the thrombolytic checklist and some actual EMS Case Studies of stroke.

Dr. Perraut is the Chair of Emergency Medicine at MedStar St. Mary's Hospital and an excellent speaker.
